Just as the weather is cooling off, the AMA-Las Vegas chapter is heating up with YOU under the spotlight. What better time to get involved and maximize your member benefits! One of our chapter's principle roles is to assist in the personal and professional development of our members. This gives you an opportunity to help the board carry out its objectives, as well as maximizes your networking opportunities.
If you ask yourself, "Where can I serve?", here's the answer! Every luncheon needs two people at the registration table, two people at the door to welcome our guests, member mentors for our student members, and assistance selling raffle tickets, directing guests to the member resource table, passing out and collecting the comment cards, as well as collecting information from our members for the eNewsletter.
In addition, there are volunteer opportunities at the mixers and educational seminars, or as a member of one of the committees.
Angela George is president-elect and the person responsible for volunteer assignments. Have you let her know where YOU would like to get more involved? Get connected and plug into the power of AMA-Las Vegas TODAY!

dream a little dream. Marketing News, 9/15/2007, Vol. 41 Issue 15, p18-21
This article focuses on the role of corporate marketing departments in the creation and development of new products. Many companies budget time for their employees to think of new goods and services. Marketing departments, with their large store of data on a company's customers and those consumer's wishes, can keep such idea-generating sessions moving in productive directions. Emerson is cited as a company where marketers have joined engineers in new product development. (click on the "dream a little dream." link above for the remainder of this story)

September Luncheon
"Crisis? Plan On It." was September's topic for the AMA-Las Vegas chapter's monthly luncheon. Marv Rockford, Principal Consultant of Rockford Gray, LLC, and James Woodrow, Co-Principal and Founder of Preferred Public Relations & Marketing, were our featured presenters. Both drew upon past personal experiences and current events (for example, Mattel and the Utah Mining accident) to demonstrate the importance of having an effective communication strategy in place before a crisis even occurs. Information shared by these two dynamic speakers helped provide attendees with valuable ideas for their own crisis management plans, as well as insight on determining ways to turn a crisis into an opportunity.
October Luncheon
"Money + Power = Glamour & Luxury: Why this is such a niche market?" drew a sell-out crowd at our October luncheon. Michael T. Carr, President of Greenspun Media Group, spoke about the basics of developing niche media products that focus on high-end consumers. As president of Greenspun Media Group, Mr. Carr has led his company to its position as the largest magazine company in the state. Topics covered in this highly engaging and motivational presentation included creating demand, strategies in targeting ultra high-end consumers, and creating an appealing visual and tactile product.
In addition to the presentation by Mr. Carr, our featured Annual Sponsor was Ray Garza with The Hispanic Agency and the Luncheon Sponsor was Trusted Home Lending. More than one hundred marketers attended the event, making it one of the most successful AMA events of the year.
